 Earlier this year, I featured an excellent band named Will Jacobs & Dirty Deal, who are an authentic, original, and energetic blend of Blues, Blues Rock, Funk and Soul. They have recently released a new demo tape which wonderfully showcases their efforts as a blues band. This brand new offering is more of a preservation of classic blues-rock than it is an effort to do something new- which is welcome in my book. There is a lack of exciting blues out there today, but Will Jacobs & Dirty Deal have absolutely brought a lot of energy to these new tracks. If you like John Mayer’s efforts as a blues man (The John Mayer Trio) then you will definitely enjoy this. Each track is tight, has a deep groove and is consistently upbeat.

 Thanks to Louie Zagoras and Random Fill Records for helping us come out with this fantastic 3 song demo of original songs! We went up to Random Fill Records recording studio in Bannockburn, IL. It was in the "North Star" newspaper!

We have been selected by the board of The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society of Marietta, Ohio to compete in the "17th Annual River City Ohio Blues Competition", Ohio’s oldest and largest blues talent competition. Compeition Weekend is February 20-21, 2009 in Marietta, Ohio at the historic Lafayette Hotel in downtown Marietta. Only a handful of blues bands were selected to compete. We'll spend the weekend in the beautiful city of Marietta with all lodging provided. 

 The first-place winner of The River City Ohio Blues Competition will receive $1000 dollars in cash and BJFMS sponsorship to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in early 2010, where we can gain valuable exposure to record label A&R representatives Blues industry professionals, and festival promoters capable of providing real career advancement for a serious blues musician.

     2008 has been a great year for us. We have had the opportunity to play and headline many of the great venues around Chicago (Bottom Lounge, Bill's Blues, and Reggie's Rock Club to name a few). We also released our first live album and currently have a weekend residency at the Elbo Room. Not to mention, we made this great website!

     Lately the band has been taking time off from shows and focusing on writing new material. However, we're planning lots of new shows starting in March! 3/24 we're playing at Hanson Brothers in Northbrook and 4/1 we'll be at The Alley in Highwood. Festival submissions this year include BAM Fest, Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival, River City Ohio Blues Competition, and more!

     In the mean time, check out our latest recording at the Elbo Room with Jake Shapiro on the organ. The song's called "Coming Home Baby". Oh, and don't forget to sign up on the MAILING LIST!
