WILL JACOBS may be a lot younger than most Chicago musicians (having just turned 20 years old), but that isn’t stopping this guitarist, singer & songwriter from his passionate musical pursuits.
A regular performer in Chicago's music scene since he was 13, Will recently entered his sophomore year at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He fuses the blues, jazz, gospel and R&B influences of his early musical experiences into a powerful exciting experience with The Will Jacobs Band - they venture into gritty, soulful blues and alternately into funky, brassy R&B. Between writing, recording, studying guitar, bass, Hammond B-3, contemporary songwriting and performing, Will is determined to provide a fresh perspective to the old-school sound.
His original band, "Dirty Deal" attracted both local and international attention. Based out of Chicago, they represented an uncommon range and depth of musicianship for such a young group. Drive and dedication were evident in this powerhouse group whose music was a blend of blues/rock/r&b classics and original tunes running the gamut from fast & fiery instrumentals to intensely sensitive ballads.
Winners of the 2009 Chicago Blues Challenge (Youth Division) and competing again in the adult division of the 2011 Chicago Blues Challenge, they made a mark because of Will’s soulful, vocal chops and guitar improvisational talents coupled with the band’s rockin’, blues-infused sound and exhilarating stage performance.
Will continues to take his talents to larger stages - as a backup player for George Clinton at Berklee in 2011, as an opening act with his own band for international blues stars such as Billy Branch, Eddy Clearwater and Tommy Castro in 2010-11, or for large corporate events and conferences (leading the 50th Anniversary celebration for Crate & Barrel and a presenter performer for design/inspiration CUSP2012 conference). Watch out for the continued trajectory of this dynamic writer and performer!
